"Everybody talks about a dynasty. OUR dynasty starts today." -Michael Strahan, New York Giants (prior to Super Bowl XLII)
Ok, I couldn't resist! Yes, I was born in New York City, lived in New Jersey most of my life, and have been a Giants' fan for 30 years. So what does a heavily underdog upstart winning the Super Bowl have to do with Law of Attraction? Everything!...
Remember 'The Secret'? Ask, Believe, Receive. Well, 'Believe' is arguably the most critical piece - and it's often the place where people get tripped up.
Moments before their historic game-winning drive, Michael Strahan was videotaped on the sideline rallying the offense. "17-14 is the final (score). 17-14. One touchdown and we're world champions. Believe it, and it will happen." Two offensive lineman could be seen nodding their heads in agreement. At the time, New England led 14-10, yet Michael was already deep into creating a different outcome.
And you may also recall, getting LoA to work requires your giving up 'how' something will happen.
David Tyree, who reeled in the amazing 'helmet catch', was asked how in the world he managed to hang on to the football. He replied, "I really wish I could explain it. (All I know is I was not going to let that ball hit the ground.)"
Super stuff! So how can you create giant results in your own life?
As a Landmark Education graduate, I recognize that most of us participate in a very small game. We get into a comfort zone, and often our lives become about protecting what we have, and playing it safe. In contrast, those who successfully manifest their innermost dreams play HUGE. They realize there's risk - that they'll encounter barriers and breakdowns along the way - yet somehow they keep fighting and 'playing through the pain'.
Are they any different from you? NO! They simply create and believe on a grander scale - and most importantly, they don't allow breakdowns to linger for very long.
Let's face it, if the Giants had believed everything that was said and written prior to the game, they probably wouldn't have bothered showing up. And even if they did show up, it would have been more an exercise in futility than anything else.
Unfortunately, this is how many of us navigate through life - semi-consciously going through the motions, collecting other people's opinions about us, buying into our own limiting beliefs. Then, we resign ourselves to accepting that what we have 'isn't so bad'. And with this formula, is it any surprise we're often left with unremarkable results?
I invite you to change your pattern. Instead of settling for less than you're worth, take a risk. Think about it, you're taking the biggest one of all right now if you do nothing - risking a life of mediocrity! So do some soul-searching, and figure out what it is you truly want. Then choose that you will have it! From there, take one first step in that direction. Then, like Michael Strahan - and sooner than you imagine - your final score will be what YOU declare it to be. Sounds like a winning game plan to me!
Until next time...
With love,
-Jeff
